Get the plugin. Connect. Done.

Umbra lives inside Obsidian as a plugin. Install it, point it at a server, and your vault syncs — encrypted end to end from the first keystroke.

  1. 1

    Install the plugin

Add Umbra to Obsidian from Community Plugins on desktop, and install it the same way on mobile. One plugin, every device.

  2. 2

    Open Umbra settings

In Obsidian, head to the Umbra tab in settings and choose Set up / connect.

  3. 3

    Connect your vault

Enter your Umbra service's HTTPS address — hosted or self-hosted — then your email and passphrase. Your key is derived locally and never sent.

  4. 4

    Umbra links your data

If this device already has a vault and the server holds data, Umbra links them safely. Files that collide are kept as conflict copies, never overwritten — you never lose a note.
